The Archive
The Archive was born in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. As a means to escape the day-to-day reality of Covid, I transported myself back to a beautiful daydream. I had been travelling several times a year to Paris since my first trip in 2015. With the borders closed I turned to the internet to discover more about the city I so love. Also, I thought what a great time to do some research on the history of Transgender Showgirls and Female Impersonators. My fascination for both subjects led me to discover Le Carrousel, Madame Arthur, and the legendary entertainers that worked there. Needless to say, I became obsessed and internet searches were not enough. I needed to feel the history in the palm of my hands. I started searching and found items here and there. One of the first items I found was a show programme , it was filled with gorgeous photos of the entertainers. Later that year I started my Instagram page and have been able to connect with people from all around the world including some of the entertainers that are still with us after all this time.
