Elle et Lui opened in the mid to late 50's and catered to Lesbian clientele. Originally 2 cabarets Elle at 29 rue Vavin and Lui at 31 rue Vavin, they merged into Elle et Lui at 31 rue Vavin when Le Carrousel moved from rue du Colisee in 1963 to 29 rue Vavin.  It is said that Elle is where the more femme women hung out and Lui where the more masc and Drag Kings would perform.
